In deze Coronatijd is het voor kunstenaars extra moeilijk om hun werk te presenteren. Vaak zijn tentoonstellingen afgelast of uitgesteld en blijft het publiek weg. Dit weekend stelt kunstliefhebbers en verzamelaars in de gelegenheid om kunst te zien van meer dan 300 kunstenaars verspreid over 40 locaties. Het zijn veelal oude schoolgebouwen waardoor het voor bezoekers mogelijk is om voldoende afstand te bewaren. Elk complex heeft hygiënische voorzieningen getroffen voor de veiligheid voor alle aanwezigen.

Rotterdam heeft een traditie met dit soort ateliercomplexen: Kunst & Complex werd opgericht in 1981 en Foundation B.a.d. in 1987. Nog steeds wordt gezocht naar ateliers: sinds vijf jaar zitten ruim veertig kunstenaars en ontwerpers anti-kraak aan de Vondelweg.

Ga mee met één van de zes gratis kunstrondleidingen in verschillende wijken op zaterdag 25 en zondag 26 september. In ruim een uur fiets je onder begeleiding van een kunstgids een unieke route die je samen hebt afgestemd: meer schilderkunst of juist iets meer experimenteel, je kunt je natuurlijk ook laten verrassen. Een geweldige manier om je snel te oriënteren en te inspireren. Aanmelden ter plekke op startlocaties. Maximaal 4 personen per tour, op eigen fiets.

In this Corona time, it is extra difficult for artists to present their work. Exhibitions are often cancelled or postponed and the public stays away. This weekend allows art lovers and collectors to see art by more than 300 artists across 40 locations. They are often old school buildings, which makes it possible for visitors to keep sufficient distance. Every complex has hygienic provisions for the safety of all those present.

Rotterdam has a tradition with this type of studio complex: Kunst & Complex was founded in 1981 and Foundation B.a.d. in 1987. Studios are still being sought: more than forty artists and designers have been anti-squatting on Vondelweg for the past five years.

Join one of the six free art tours in different neighborhoods on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September. In just over an hour you will cycle a unique route under the guidance of an art guide that you have coordinated together: more painting or something more experimental, of course you can also be surprised. A great way to quickly orientate and inspire. Register on the spot at starting locations. Maximum 4 people per tour, on your own bike.

Filming/Filmen MAUS in ‘t O-tje

There Will Be Film chose ‘t O-tje’s garden on a warm Summer night to film a scene from their forthcoming fiction series MAUS. Jiska Bazuin was very kind to casually answer some questions about this filming night and to share some of their photographer Jeroen Bronckers’ pictures with us. We cannot thank them enough.

O-tje: If you don’t mind I would love to ask a couple of questions, nothing big.

Jiska Bazuin: Many thanks for your kind e-mail! It’s nice to hear from you.

OT: Can you please tell us a bit about the film you are shooting?

JB: The fiction series is written and directed by Chris de Krijger and Sven Peetoom. In a total of six episodes, a 17-year-old named Maus (played by Walt Klink, known from the videoclip ‘Smoorverliefd’ by Snelle) falls asleep on the train, wakes up at the Central Station and finds out the first morning train leaves hours later. He then decides to follow a mysterious girl, like a moth drawn to the light, deeper and deeper into the night. From a cinema setting in the Tram depot in Hillegersberg to the surreal cellars of Cinerama, from a balcony rave at Het O’tje to the Natuurhistorisch Museum at night; every episode breathes the creativity and adaptability of the Rotterdam nocturnal animals. Maus finds out what the night has in store: love, temptation, friendships and art.

OT: Why did you decide to shoot a couple of scenes here at ‘t Otje? What was the experience like?

JB: Chris and Sven had already written the script and we were already making plans for the production and shooting period, but then corona happened, so we were forced to think of alternative ways for Maus to discover the city nightlife. Because you couldn’t (still can’t) go to a discotheque to party with your friends, people started throwing balcony parties or raves. We decided to combine the two and were looking for a location in Rotterdam where this would be possible. As Anne is a friend of Chris and we sort-of knew Het O’tje, we decided to ask her, to see if it would be possible to check it out and use it in the series. We simply loved the garden and the red balconies on both sides, so we decided to go for it! It was an amazing experience. During the day (when it was super hot) we built up the set and had a bbq with the crew. When it started to get dark, we started shooting and everything came together; the lights, the people, the atmosphere. It was magical!

OT: When will it premiere and where can we see it?

JB: The web/tv series will be broadcasted from November 15 to December 20 on OPEN Rotterdam. Furthermore, we also want to make it a mid length film, but I can’t tell you when and where that will premiere just yet.

Vanmiddag dus tussen plus minus 15u en 18u een kleine muziekmiddag in Attent met Niek Hilkmann (NL pop) en Simon Mulder (oude Nederlandse cabaretliedjes).

We beginnen niet stip om 15u en het programma duurt ook niet drie uur. Wel gratis toegang. Als het kan is het in de kas (ingang dan niet bij Attent maar de andere kant van het blok, als je het niet kan vinden loop even rond het blok waar Attent aan vast zit)

Uiteraard gratis toegang.

Tijdens het Groot Rotterdams Atelier Weekend zetten 39 ateliercomplexen in Rotterdam hun deuren open op zaterdag 26 en zondag 27 september, van 11.00-17.00 uur.

In deze Coronatijd is het voor kunstenaars extra moeilijk om hun werk te presenteren. Vaak zijn tentoonstellingen afgelast of uitgesteld en blijft het publiek weg. Dit weekend stelt kunstliefhebbers en verzamelaars in de gelegenheid om kunst te zien van meer dan 270 kunstenaars.

Ervaar kunst, cultuur en live muziek. Vanaf Struitenweg 54 betreedt u de prachtige tuin en verlaat deze aan de achterzijde aan Bakkerstraat. Afstand houden is geen probleem en u ziet meteen het werk van kunstenaars die wonen en werken in Stichting ‘t O-tje. Met take away O-tje bar met lekkers, en een muzikale performance. De etalage van Attent is non-stop te bezichtigen. Deelnemende kunstenaars zijn Jitka Andrea, Marloes van Dijk, Helen Anna Flanagan , Elco Verschoof, Jacco Weener, live muziek door Gonçalo Almeida.

‘t O-tje presenteert twee concerten van dubbelbassist-componist Gonçalo Almeida, die tevens curator is van Sunday Solos Series in de Attent-projectruimte, een serie gewijd aan avontuurlijke experimentele en geïmproviseerde muziek.

Ruimtelijk werk.

Gebruik makend van het nieuwe nu, de 1,5 meter afstand en de buitenruimte is er, speciaal voor dit weekend, een werk gecreëerd. Jitka Andréa werkt veelal met architectonische vormen en ruimtes.

Ootje  will present two concerts  by doublebassist composer Gonçalo Almeida, whom have been the curator of Sunday Solos Series at our  Attent project room, a series dedicated to adventurous experimental and improvised music.

Using the new now, using the 1,5 meter distance and the outdoor space, a work has been created  especially fort his weekend. Jitka Andréa often works with aerchitectural forms and spaces.
